How do I care for my lingerie?

As with all lingerie, Arabel garments are incredibly delicate and should be washed and cared for gently to prolong their life. Please do not machine wash, dry clean, tumble dry or iron your lingerie, as this may result in it's damage or discolouration. Machine washing can cause bra underwires to become misshapen, elastic and fabrics with lycra in to become stretched and lose their elasticity and delicate finishes such as hand stitched details and rolled hems to be damaged.

How do I hand wash my lingerie?

1 - Please hand-wash your lingerie using a mild liquid lingerie detergent, that is suitable for delicate fabrics. Liquid detergent is advisable over powder detergent as powder granules can become lodged in delicate fabrics such as lace and chiffon.

2 - When hand-washing please remember to remove any rings, bracelets and wristwatches so you do not snag or catch the delicate fabric. Also, check that your nails are filed. This is especially important with stockings.

3 - Avoid heavy scrubbing or wringing out of your lingerie as it may cause it to be stretched and lose its shape. Please take note of the special washing instructions below for specific fabrics.

4 - To avoid stretching your lingerie out of shape air dry it flat rather than hanging it up. You can also lay your soft lingerie on a fluffy towel and gently roll it up to remove the excess water and help it to dry faster.

How do I hand wash chiffon & georgette?

Please handwash as above in cold water using a delicate liquid detergent that is suitable for polyester chiffon.

How do I care for my stockings?

Please handwash them separately and carefully in luke warm water. Please use a mild liquid lingerie detergent, that is suitable for nylon and either allow them to drip dry or dry them flat. Do not pat them dry with a towel.

Here are a few little tips to prolong the life of your stockings... Before putting them on moisturise your legs and check that your finger and toe nails are filed... and beautifully painted if possible! Then bunch up the stockings from thigh to toe and roll them gently onto your legs. You may wish to wear stocking gloves when putting on and handling your stockings. It is also a good idea to store your stockings separately from your other lingerie in a place free from rough egdes.
